On June 13th 1981 13 parishioners were commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers for Crook at Ushaw College near Durham.
Today we are 36 Ministers of the Eucharist working in our Parish, visiting the housebound with Holy Communion and assisting with distribution of the Eucharist at weekday and Sunday Masses. We are a happy mix of retired and working men & women but unfortunately very few youngsters among us.
Each week we visit on average 22 of our elderly or/ housebound parishioners. In order to do this at least 20 of our Ministers are grouped into teams of three or four and each group is responsible for two or three parishioners who receive Holy Communion after Sunday morning Mass. This also includes weekly visits to nursing / residential homes
Each year we renew our commitment on the feast of Corpus Christi and during the year we undertake a time of reflection and prayer together.
